Let's start by checking the exercise 2, page 23.

a) Oersted discovered  that electricity and magnetism are connected.

b) He noticed that an electric current affects a compass needle.

c) Ampere discovered the particle that is now called the electron.

d) Faraday invented a simple electromagnetic motor.

e) Electromagnet produces a magnetic field when it is switched on.

f) It can be used to separate mixtures containing iron or steel.

ACTIVITIES 20-03-2020                  BAR MAGNETS 

 

Today we're going to talk about bar magnets,

magnetic poles and magnetic fields.

                                   

1. To start with, I want you to watch this video. It's a little bit long but it explains quite well what magnetic poles, magnetic fields and electromagnets are.

                                      

2. Now open your books on page 24 and read "What's a bar magnet?"
